Privacy Policy

The short version

Nought is a native Mac app that runs entirely on your device. It does not require an account, does not contain analytics or tracking, and does not collect or transmit your personal data or the contents of your spreadsheets. Your files stay on your Mac (and in iCloud or other locations only if you choose to save them there).

The app

Nought opens and saves spreadsheet files (.xlsx, .csv, .ods) directly on your Mac. It works fully offline. The app makes no network requests, sends no telemetry, and includes no advertising or third-party tracking software. We never see your spreadsheets.

Nought ships a privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) that declares no tracking and no data collection, consistent with this policy.

This website

The nought.app website records an anonymous count of downloads so we can understand how many people are using Nought. This count is not linked to you and does not identify you. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and reliability; these are not used to track or profile you and are not combined with any other data.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Email you send us

If you email us (for example, to report a bug or send feedback at hello@noughtapp.com), we keep your message and contact details only to respond to you and to improve Nought. We do not use them for marketing and do not share them with third parties except where needed to provide our email service.

Your rights

Because Nought does not collect personal data through the app, in most cases we hold no personal data about you. Where we do hold personal data (for example, an email you sent us), UK data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, or delete it, and to object to or restrict its processing.
